Homecoming Happenings:
The week of October 3rd-7th is Homecoming week. We want all of our students to be able to enjoy the family activities that week. With this is mind, there will be no written homework that week and only a few tests and quizzes. You can expect a vocabulary test that Wednesday, a Bible and spelling test on Friday, and the timed test on Tuesday. Third grade also has some fun activities in the works for that week.
Important Policies:
Please make every effort to have your child at school by 8:15. We will enter the classroom at 8:20. Instruction will begin promptly at 8:25.
You must sign your child in if they are not in the classroom by 8:25.
Three tardies will equal 1 absence.
Three early check outs will equal 1 absence.
Your child may not be signed out between 2:15-2:40.
A study group will be offered Mondays from 2:50-3:50. Study group is by invitation only.
Important Dates:
Please turn in Boosterthon pledges as soon as possible.
September 23rd- Our class will be performing at chapel.

Monday:
Tuesday: Timed Test
Wednesday :Vocabulary Test, Unit 3 definitions, synonyms, and antonyms
Thursday:Math Test Chapter 1
Friday Spelling, Bible, Reading
Homework:
Nightly: math page, study Bible verse, study spelling, study math facts, read for 20 minutes, a language or spelling
Bible:
Bible Verse: Matthew 5:7 "Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy."
Bible Concept: Abraham's Faith and Obedience
Spelling: active, bargain, gasp, loyal, resource, sensitive, struggle, value, vary, wander, will, each, about, how, them
Grammar: Compound and Complex Sentences
Vocabulary: Unit 3 definitions, antonyms, and synonyms will be tested on Wednesday, September 21st. The spelling of these words will be tested on Friday, September 23rd.
Reading: The Olympic Games: Where Heroes Are Made
nonfiction
We will also begin reading groups this week. Each group will be assigned a novel to read and have various activities to do with that novel.
Math Timed Tests:
Addition timed tests - 100 problems in four minutes - Tuesday
Subtraction timed tests- I will begin giving students a 100 problem subtraction timed tests on Thursdays. They will be given four minutes. I will not grade subtraction timed tests until second quarter. This is just for their practice.
Math:
Review for diagnostic checkpoint and chapter 1 test.
Begin chapter 2- Use addition properties to find sums.
Science: Classifying Animals
Social Studies: American Government
