Please make every effort to have your child at school by 8:15. We will enter the classroom at 8:20. Instruction will begin promptly at 8:25.
You must sign your child in if they are not in the classroom by 8:25.
Three tardies will equal 1 absence.
Three early check outs will equal 1 absence.
Your child may not be signed out between 2:15-2:40.
A study group will be offered Mondays from 2:50-3:50. Study group is by invitation only.

Wednesday, October 19th will be Spirit Day. Students will participate in a service project and then a pep rally. The Homecoming game will be at 6pm Wednesday night.

Grammar: Common and Proper nouns
Vocabulary: Unit 5 definitions, antonyms, and synonyms will be tested on Wednesday, Oct. 26th. The spelling of these words will be tested on Friday, Oct. 28st.
Reading: We will begin reading the story Balto from the reading book. We will test on this story on Friday, October 21st. Reading groups will continue to work on their novels.
Math Timed Tests:
Addition timed tests - 100 problems in four minutes - Tuesday
Subtraction timed tests- 100 problems in four minutes- Thursday
I will begin to count the grade on subtraction timed tests this week. Grades, however, will be counted for second quarter.
XtraMath: Students must complete at least 3 sessions per week. Each session must be completed on a different day. (Week runs Monday through Sunday.)

Chapter 2
Estimate sums using rounding, front-end estimation, and compatible numbers.
Decide whether an estimate is an overestimate or an underestimate.

Social Studies:
Freedom for All: Students will discuss the role of 19th Century Americans, especially Fredrick Douglass, in the fight for all people living in the United States.
Science:
Plant Life Cycles: Understand how plants grow and reproduce. Recognize the life cycles of different types of plants.
