Behavior Expectations and Consequences
Behavior Expectations:
To go along with my class TEAM theme, I use a team orchestrated management system. The students will create their own team name and will receive points (positive consequences) throughout the day when they are caught following directions, helping a classmate, win a game, the first team to clear desks for an activity or lesson, etc. The team with the most points throughout the day will be rewarded immediately in ways like lining up first, being the first team to pack up, first team to do an activity or receive classwork, as well as other possible rewards throughout the day. The winning team of the week will receive a special token to place on their desk for the following week. That team will then pass this token on to the next winning team with words of encouragement. Points will restart each week. Team members may be adjusted with teacher discretion.
Classroom Rules:
Rule #1: Follow teacher's directions quickly.
Rule #2: Raise your hand to speak.
Rule #3: Respect others, respect yourself, respect your school.
Rule #4: Be a team player.
Rule #5: Be on task and participate in class.
Consequences:
If a student does make an inappropriate choice, the following steps are taken:

Consequences:
If a student does make an inappropriate choice, the following steps are taken:
- A verbal warning is given with an opportunity to redeem his/her actions.
- If inappropriate choices continue, logical consequences are imposed. Depending on the situation, a child may have to sit by themselves at lunch (misconduct in the lunch room) or recess (incomplete homework or classwork, or misconduct on the playground.)
- He/she will sit out for a few minutes of an activity and fill out a "Think Sheet" explaining their poor choice and good choice solution. This sheet is sent home to be signed by a parent and returned the next day.
- The parent and office are contacted for extremely hurtful, destructive, or chronic negative behavior choices.
